Hace poco más de una hora, tuve el enorme gusto de ser entrevistado vía telefónica por Irene Moreno, quien conduce el Programa "Las Noches con Irene", en Radiofórmula (103.3 FM), una importante cadena de Radio Mexicana. Tan pronto como mi llamada desde Nueva York fue puesta al aire, no sólo escuché la voz de Irene, sino la voz de un gran amigo y colega sexólogo: Luis Perelman.

La conversación entre Irene, Luis y yo giró en torno a la salud sexual de los migrantes mexicanos que viven en Estados Unidos y, particularmente, sobre los Talleres de Salud Sexual que he estado impartiendo a mujeres mexicanas en el Este de Harlem. 

Al final de la entrevista, todos coincidimos en la importancia del "empoderamiento" como una herramienta para mejorar la salud sexual de las mujeres latinas que viven en Nueva York, y, en general, ¡para mejorar la salud sexual de todo mundo! Sentirnos valiosos y con la capacidad de tomar decisiones sobre nuestra propia vida es fundamental para hablar sin vergüenza o miedo, para establecer límites, para poder decir "sí" ó "no" y para poder disfrutar nuestra sexualidad.

Gracias Irene y Luis por tan agradable plática nocturna entre Nueva York y México, entre los mexicanos de aquí y los de allá.

Just over an hour ago, I had the great pleasure of being interviewed via phone by Irene Moreno, who hosts the Radio Show "The nights with Irene", in Radiofórmula (103.3 FM), an important Radio Station in Mexico. As soon as my call from New York was on the air, I not only heard Irene's voice, but the voice of a great friend and colleague: Luis Perelman.

The conversation between Irene, Luis and I was about the sexual health of Mexican immigrants who live in the United States, and particularly, about the Sexual Health Workshops I have been giving to Mexican women living in East Harlem.

At the end of the interview, we all agreed on the importance of "empowerment" as a tool to improve the sexual health of Latin women living in New York, and in general, as a tool to improve the sexual health of everyone! Feeling self-worthy and with the capacity of taking the decisions about our own lifes is fundamental for being able to talk without shame or fear, to establish limits, to say "yes" or "no" and for being able to enjoy our sexuality.

Thanks to Irene and Luis for such a nice late night talk between New York and Mexico, between of the Mexicans of here and there.
